Evan touched raw hamburger, so I had him wash his hands. He wondered why. When I told him that it could make him sick, he informed me of the following:

"Indians ate raw meat in the old times and they didn't die."

I asked him when that was.

"In the 60s."

Brilliant. I'm amazed that he came up with the '60s--partially because I'm amazed that he even knew they existed and partially because I think it might actually be perfectly true. If you take Evan's 4 years of life, the 1960s would have been about 10-12 lifetimes ago. For me at 30, that would be about 300-360 years ago. I'd call that the old times too. Plus any kind of logic that gets you out of washing your hands is just sheer genius. Beautiful work buddy.

I had to forward this entry to the kids. Just in case they weren't staying caught up. Nice work on your part too, Karen.
