Indianapolis
We had a great, though short, time with the whole family in Indianapolis. We went for my cousin's bridal shower. It worked out that the whole family was able to be in the same place for approximately 7 hours. It was great. :) But we were with most of the family for more than 48 hours.
For as long as I can remember, our family has never been one to be calm in a hotel.
3-D and the IMAX.

We're in the US now- actually getting ready to head back up north. It's been busy, but fun. Kendall went back to Red Lake last weekend and started work with a bang- Monday was a 16-hour day. The winter has been long for me. (Yes, it's true that we missed a blizzard in Red Lake last Friday.) So Kendall and I decided that it would be good for me to stay an extra week. It has been good. The boys and I are heading home Friday. Kendall will pick us up in Duluth.
Here are some pictures from the last 2 weeks:
The king sleeps.
At a park in Iowa on our way to Kendall's parents' house.
I was overjoyed at all the green!
I took the boys to a children's museum one afternoon in Iowa city. Here they're working in a pizzeria.
Literally climbing the walls.

Sucker Fishing
Sucker fishing is a popular spring ritual in Red Lake. I have heard about it for years and this year I was privileged to participate. This is the time of year that the sucker fish swim upstream to spawn. Sometimes they are thick in streams and rivers. You either reach in and grab a fish with your hands or you use a net. We had our chance to go right at the beginning of the season, so there weren't as many as there will be soon.
We took two four-wheelers down a very muddy trail and ended up at "the (non-existent) bridge." Kendall has memories of swimming with the suckers- going right into the river and grabbing fish around you. It was way too cold for any of that foolishness, so we stayed on shore and tried to not fall in.
Here's Kendall reaching in to grab a fish...
He's got something...
Looks like a slimy sucker...
And it is!
And the fish comes flying in my direction!

In the background you can see a beaver house. We were fishing right under the dam the beavers made. Right in front of the weeds, you can barely see two beavers busily working.
Kendall is, for some unknown reason, walking across the dam. If you look closely, you can see a beaver swimming close to the weeds.
I had the camera ready just in case he would start falling. I thought it would be a good moment to capture on film. Of course I would have quickly thrown down the camera (after snapping a picture) and ran to rescue my dearly beloved husband.
I was concentrated, but unsuccessful.
Looks heavy.
