Timber.

Yesterday a tree randomly fell on our house.
We're fine.

It was a hot, sunny, windy day. But what-in-the-world...We're not in Indiana!

It poked a small hole in the roof, but didn't seem to do much else. Even so, it created a fair amount of diversion for us and the small army currently taking up residence on this property.

An Absurd Interjection

What a crazy morning so far... Thankfully, I made it out of the house for a short walk before Kendall left for work. Otherwise I might be even closer to being completely loony by now!

The boys have just been crazy lately. I think it's a combination of a very exciting trip coming up and so much busyness and lack of routine for the past while. (To be more forthcoming, Mommy has been rather crazy lately too. I can't say I've been the nicest or most energetic mom.)

This morning both boys ended up crying, which doesn't happen often. (They often fight, but the littler one just isn't usually able to make the bigger one cry.) They were both injured in an altercation. So a very frazzled Mommy sat down with them to have a (very frazzled and frustrated) pep talk. In the middle of the "talk," the phone rang. Hoping it was Kendall, I picked it up. Sure enough.

This is what I heard from the other end of the line: "Hi! So, you wanna go to the golf outing, right?"

What?! So very out of context. A golf outing with his work coming up in September. Okay...

"For the dinner, do you want prime rib, chicken cordon bleu, or baby back ribs?"

My manic laughter began: "Alright, prime rib please."

"And for dessert? Strawberry shortcake, apple crisp, lemon cream something-or-other, or triple chocolate tiger cake?"

I was nearly rolling on the floor with laughter by now. Of course I chose the triple chocolate tiger cake. I mean, why not choose the dessert with the most absurd title for the most absurd interjection into my not-so-happy morning?

By the time we hung up the phone, I felt energized by a short laughing spell. At my request, Daddy had a short pep talk with each of the boys and they had decided to channel their energy into playing with Legos.

So now they are happy and relatively quiet while they play with Legos together.

Thanks, God, for the absurd interjection into our morning. We needed it.
